August 19-Japanese satellite operator Sky Perfect JSat announced on Thursday that it will use SpaceX's starship to put its Superbird-9 communications satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit in 2024.

Sky perfect did not disclose details of the terms of the deal. This is another Japanese customer scheduled to use a starship after Japanese billionaire Tomoto Maezawa.

As a new generation of space transportation system of SpaceX, the company believes that starships will make it possible for humans to colonize Mars and explore deep space.

The entire starship launch system consists of a super heavy booster and a 50-meter-high starship with multiple Raptor engines that can be reused. So far, the starship launch system has not completed a space flight, but SpaceX is preparing for its first orbital test, and the starship is expected to launch from SpaceX's facility in southern Texas in the coming months.

Japanese billionaire Tomoto Maezawa has already booked a trip around the moon in a starship for himself and several other passengers, and NASA has chosen the starship as the first manned lunar lander for the Artemis lunar exploration program.

The trip to the moon made by former Zeyou is tentatively scheduled for 2023. NASA plans to use starships to send astronauts to the moon, and the agency aims to launch Artemis 3 mission in 2025 or 2026.

Sky perfect's Super Bird 9 is a flexible, high-throughput satellite, and the company's representative said in a statement on Thursday that the satellite "will provide broadcasting and broadband services to Japan and East Asia in the Ku band to meet the needs of mobile services and broadband services."
