According to Wal-Mart's second-quarter results, Wal-Mart's total revenue in the second quarter was $152.9 billion, an 8.4% year-on-year increase in operating profit of $6.9 billion for Q2.

Wal-Mart's net sales of Q2 in China increased by 15.9%, while comparable sales increased by 14.1%. Sam's club store and e-commerce businesses performed well. Of this total, net sales of Wal-Mart's Q2 e-commerce in China increased by 77%, with a two-year cumulative growth rate of 152%.

The company now expects u.s. same-store sales (excluding fuel) to grow by about 3% in the second half of the year and about 4% for the whole year, while adjusted earnings per share are expected to fall by 9% Mel 11% for the full year.

Wal-Mart's reputation as a discount retailer has also attracted more middle-and high-income shoppers: about 3/4 of the company's food market share growth comes from customers with annual household incomes of $100000 or more, according to John David Rainey, Wal-Mart's chief financial officer.
