TikTok, a short video platform, recently released a new feature that allows content creators on TikTok to forward original content from TikTok snapshots (Stories, which disappears after 24 hours of release) directly to social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is busy copying TikTok's short video feature on its major social media platforms, but TikTok's latest release allows its own platform content to appear on Meta's social platform. TikTok began testing a new feature called TikTok Snapshot as early as last year. The company recently confirmed that the new sharing feature allows users to forward snapshots to all major social media platforms.

This feature was originally discovered by Watchful, a product intelligence company. TikTok said that this feature has only recently been released to TikTok users, so many users may not have seen the option in the application.

Meta has been trying to lower the ranking of many TikTok original videos in its short video app Reels, but TikTok's new sharing feature will increase the exposure of its content on Meta social platforms. Meta has previously informed content creators that the company will give priority to original content on Reels and that recommended algorithms will pay attention to watermarks in TikTok videos. Of course, reposting original content may just provide a new way for TikTok creators to share works and increase exposure.

It is reported that TikTok snapshot has introduced a new sharing interface. Previously, when users clicked on the options, they could click on their friends' avatars in the pop-up sharing menu and share the original content directly with their friends on TikTok. In addition, this feature allows users to save videos to their local devices and delete or change privacy settings.

The sharing menu now lists a row of mainstream social applications, as well as the option to copy video links. Users can forward TikTok snapshot content to platforms such as Reddit, Facebook, Instagram and Instagram Stories. To be clear, users can only forward snap content through this feature, not a single TikTok video. Like other platforms, TikTok snapshots can consist of still pictures or videos. Unless TikTok creators insert their TikTok videos into snapshot content, TikTok videos cannot be shared directly to Facebook or Instagram platforms other than Reels.

For TikTok content creators, this new sharing feature may be an effective way to reach other major social network users with little extra effort.

TikTok did not confirm when the feature would be fully rolled out to its global user base. After all, the TikTok snapshot itself is still being tested around the world, it is not a fully released product, and new sharing features may not be available to all users, or these features may change when the product is released publicly.
