CTOnews.com8 news on March 18, due to the shrinking global market for electronic devices, sales of smart devices such as mobile phones, tablets and computers have all declined. At the same time, the global TV market is not optimistic.

Samsung and LG are losing market share in the global TV market, BUSINESSKOREA reported today. In the first half of this year, Samsung's market share was 31.6%, down 1.1 percentage points from the same period a year ago. LG's market share fell from 18.4% to 17.6%, down 0.8% from a year earlier.

In the first quarter of this year, Samsung's market share was 32.9%. LG's market share was 17.7%, while the total market share of the two companies was 50.6%. In the second quarter of this year, the total market share of Samsung and LG fell below 50 per cent. This is mainly due to falling demand in the global TV market and rising costs for TV manufacturers. In addition, Sony, which ranks third in market share, had sales of 141.8 billion yen (7.118 billion yuan) in the second quarter of this year, down 35.8% from a year earlier.

At the same time, sales of Chinese TV makers have also fallen. In the first half of this year, total sales of Chinese TV manufacturers were 53.1 billion yuan, down 10.5 per cent from a year earlier. At the same time, the number of Chinese TV brands fell from 63 to 52, a decrease of 11. Although the overall market environment is not optimistic, some brands are still strong, for example, Huawei, Redmi and Hisense's Vidda TV sales have all increased.

CTOnews.com has learned that sources say TV brand suppliers have cut their panel purchase plans in the face of weak end-market demand, and market data show that according to the revised panel purchase plans of Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, TCL, Hisense, Sony and Skyworth, all TV suppliers may purchase about 15 per cent less panels in 2022 than the previous year.
