CTOnews.com, August 17, Microsoft and Ubuntu Canonical have been working together to make it easier for users to use .NET in Ubuntu since they started working together a few months ago. Today, the Microsoft. NET blog announced that .NET 6 is available on Ubuntu and can be installed with just one command, "apt install dotnet6".

There are several packages available, and users can install the .NET 6 SDK, ASP.NET Core, or .NET runtime using a simple apt command. There are also some warnings, such as no support for Arm64, no .NET 7 build, no support for .NET MAUI workloads in Linux, and so on.

Microsoft and Canonical are also working together to introduce .NET into Chiseled Ubuntu Containers. Chiseling "provides minimal container footprint while still being the Ubuntu you know and trust."
