Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com August 17 news, according to Taiwan's "Industrial and Commercial Times" reported that the end of this year, Apple will become the first TSMC 3nm streaming customers, the first product may be M2 Pro chip (or will be used in Mac Pro and other new products), and next year, including the new iPhone 15 Pro special A17 application chip, as well as M2 and M3 series chips, will be imported into TSMC 3nm.

According to the report, Intel will expand the use of 3nm to produce tiles in processors in the second half of next year, and AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Broadcom will gradually complete the design of 3nm chips and begin mass production in 2023-2024.

Earlier, TrendForce said that Intel's Meteor Lake order was delayed, which had a big impact on TSMC's plans to expand production, leaving only Apple for the first wave of customers in the 3nm process from the second half of this year to next year, including M-series chips and A17 Bionic chips. As a result, TSMC has decided to slow its production expansion to ensure that production capacity is not overly idle and lead to cost pressure.

In this regard, TSMC has formally notified equipment suppliers to adjust next year's equipment orders. TrendForce expects the move to affect some of its capital expenditure plans for next year, which could lead to lower capital spending for TSMC next year than this year.
