Panasonic will increase its supply of electric car batteries to Tesla by about 10 per cent by 2024, the Nikkei reported yesterday. In July, Panasonic announced that it would build a second electric car battery factory in Kansas, which could supply 4680 batteries to Tesla. However, according to Panasonic's plan, the plant will not open until 2024 at the earliest, so Panasonic can only meet Tesla's huge battery demand by improving existing facilities.

Panasonic is reportedly planning to send production supervisors to the Nevada superbattery plant to improve production efficiency. In June, Panasonic sent dozens of staff to the Nevada superbattery plant to provide training and guidance to plant employees. According to the report, the final production capacity of the Nevada superbattery plant is expected to be around 43GWh per year.

Thanks to Panasonic's efforts, production of 2170 batteries at the Nevada superbattery plant is likely to rise significantly to ensure battery supply for models such as Tesla's Model 3. It is worth mentioning that Musk has previously said that Tesla already has a sufficient supply of 2170 batteries.

CTOnews.com learned that due to supply falling short of demand, Tesla decided on August 13 that he would no longer accept subscriptions from North American and Canadian markets for the Model 3 long-haul version. Musk said that the current waiting list is too long, with Tesla production capacity climbing, the reservation will be resumed in the future.
