Sina Science and Technology News Beijing time on August 16 morning news, it is reported that Apple set September 5 as the deadline for employees to return to work offline for at least 3 days a week. Prior to this, the company had repeatedly postponed the offline resumption of work due to the repeated outbreaks of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Apple said it would require employees to return to work offline on Tuesdays, Thursdays and another fixed date each week-specific dates to be decided by each team. The company informed employees of its new plan to return to work on Monday local time.

This is different from Apple's original plan, which required employees to return to work offline on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.

The tech giant has been working hard to get back to work offline since June 2021, when the three-day-a-week policy was announced. But novel coronavirus's rampancy forced Apple to repeatedly postpone the offline resumption deadline, leaving employees only able to implement the offline resumption policy of two days a week. This latest policy will be implemented first in Silicon Valley and then extended to other regions.

For now, an Apple spokesman declined to comment on the latest deadline.

In addition, Apple has been making other adjustments to the COVID-19 epidemic. A few weeks ago, the company lifted its mandatory policy of wearing masks in public areas of the office. A few months ago, the company also scrapped the requirement to wear masks at personal workstations.

Apple held an offline event on its campus in June to allow participants to watch speeches at the developer conference. This is also the first time that Apple has resumed an offline launch since 2019, indicating that Apple is one step closer to returning to normal operations.

Apple has many important offices in Santa Clara County, California, where the seven-day average number of COVID-19 cases and daily new cases have fallen since July, but are still much higher than before the Omicron outbreak in early 2022. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention relaxed its epidemic prevention advice on the COVID-19 epidemic last week.

Apple has been one of the most stringent technology companies to push for a return to work offline, which has sparked dissatisfaction among some employees. Microsoft, Amazon, Google and other technology companies have become more open to telecommuting in recent months.

Apple has been very busy lately. The company will release new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch models in September, and plans to update its Mac and iPad product lines later this year.
