According to news on the evening of August 15, Beijing time, game software platform Unity Software today rejected a $17.54 billion acquisition offer from game software company AppLovin. Meanwhile, Unity Software said it would continue with the previously announced "acquisition of ironSource, a software company that monetizes mobile applications."

Currently, Unity Software provides a leading global gaming software platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D content. On the other hand, AppLovin provides game developers with the necessary services and tools, allowing them to acquire new users, gain game cash income, and use analysis tools to optimize app store rankings.

Last Wednesday, AppLovin made an offer for Unity Software, offering to buy Unity Software in an all-stock deal of $17.54 billion. Upon completion of the deal, Unity Software will hold 55 per cent of the outstanding shares of the new company, representing 49 per cent of the voting rights.

Unity Software said at the time that its board of directors would evaluate AppLovin's acquisition offer. Today, Unity Software rejected AppLovin's offer.

Unity Software said AppLovin's proposal was not in the best interests of the company's shareholders. Moreover, the proposal will prevent Unity Software from receiving a "better offer" in the future.
