CTOnews.com, August 15 (Xinhua)-- Taiwan's Economic Daily reported that Foxconn is developing two new electric cars, including the Model B series sedan and the first pickup truck, to further improve the product line, which is expected to be unveiled on the annual Science and Technology Day on October 18.

Hon Hai declined to comment. Liu Yangwei, chairman of Hon Hai, is full of confidence in the new business of electric vehicles. He previously revealed at a legal conference that there will be five new customers in the future, including two traditional car companies and three new car companies. Hon Hai also said it would achieve its goal of having 5% of the global electric car market by 2025.

CTOnews.com learned that Hon Hai has successively launched three models of Model C, Model E and Model T electric buses, of which the buses have been officially shipped.

This year's Science and Technology Day, Hon Hai will once again take out the Model B and the first pickup truck, and Model C will also open pre-orders, which is expected to be delivered in 2023, the Economic Daily quoted sources as saying.

It is said that Hon Hai Model B is positioned as a medium-sized saloon car with a wheelbase of 2.45m to 2.6m, which can be calibrated from 1600c.c to 2400c.c, which is the current mainstream specification of RV.

In addition, Hon Hai Model C and Model E are respectively positioned as leisure and luxury cars (the main target groups are middle and high-end consumers and business people). After joining Model B, Hon Hai will cover a full range of models.

According to sources, the most important core of Hon Hai's first electric pickup truck is the motor technology developed by Hon Hai, which is made up of electric four-wheel drive, and the relevant technical details will be officially announced on October 18.

It is worth mentioning that Hon Hai's new factory in Ohio has also started small production of Lordstown Motors pick-up trucks in July, and the new customer Monarch Tractor has also entered the schedule and will launch a production plan at the Ohio plant in the United States, which is expected to start mass production in the first quarter of 2023.
