On August 11, US time, the silicon carbide (SiC) factory in Hudson, New Hampshire, New Hampshire, was completed.

It is reported that the base will increase on Semet's SiC wafer production capacity fivefold by the end of 2022 compared with the same period last year. This expansion gives on complete control of the SiC manufacturing supply chain, including the procurement of SiC powder and graphite raw materials and the delivery of packaged SiC devices.

Simon Keeton, executive vice president and general manager of on Semiconductor Power Solutions, said that in order to achieve the growth of substrate capacity, we have expanded to the second building and plan to continue to upgrade to provide customers with SiC wafers.

On Semet is the only large-scale supplier with dual-wire end-to-end supply capabilities for SiC and insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) solutions, according to on Semiconductor. In a second-quarter earnings call last week, the company announced a commitment to $4 billion in SiC revenue over the next three years through long-term supply agreements with a broad customer base.
