CTOnews.com August 14 news, earlier this month, Google updated Android distribution data, showing that Android 12 is running on 13.3% of devices.

Previously, Google refreshed the distribution of the Android platform / API version in Android Studio on May 9. Four months ago, Android 12 was not listed in the distribution number. Before the release of Android 13, Android 12 messages have now appeared.

There is evidence that Android 12 and later accounted for about 6.6% in May, but it is not explicitly listed in Android Studio.

In May, the chart totaled 93.3%, assuming that the rest required to reach 100% was mainly Android 12 (but may also contain 12L and 13 Beta). It's not clear why Android didn't list Google 12 three months ago. (the May Android Studio may have combined Android 11 and 12 for some reason. )

According to this logic, the total pie chart for August is 99.8%. The remaining 0.2% may be Android 12L, which has its own API level (32), considering improvements in tablets and collapsible devices.

Meanwhile, Android 11 has now fallen to 27% from 28.3% in May. It is still the most commonly used version of Android today, followed by Android 10 with 22.3%. Android 9 Pie is 14.5%, still surpassing the latest stable version four years later.

When Google publishes this data every month, it is compiled from Android devices that visit the Play store within seven days of the end of the offering date.

Google no longer provides Android distribution information on any official website, but displays data only in Android Studio. The create New Project Wizard provides charts for application developers to see which operating system versions they should target to gain the most users, while balancing which features are available.
