CTOnews.com August 13, Fido is a PowerShell script developed by the author of the Rufus boot disk authoring tool. The main function of the script is to automatically visit Microsoft's official website to get the download link of the retail version of Windows ISO, so as to make it easier for users to download the original Windows ISO image file from Microsoft's official website.

Today the Fido author released the latest version 1.30 and disabled the ISO download feature for all versions of Windows 8 through Windows 11. He said that Microsoft seems to have deliberately let their download server block the download request of this script, and that it may take a long time to solve this problem.

When you download the Windows image file, it will indicate that it cannot be downloaded, and the message "this schema cannot be found from the server" is displayed.

Fido developer Pete Batard confirmed the problem and said:

Well, on further investigation, it does look like Microsoft deliberately blocked their site from our script query instructions. The only viable query instruction GetProductDownloadLinksBySku is a Microsoft internal web page.

Trying to copy / paste the query to a different browser window, or even manually issuing a query instruction from the same window, will now return this error instead of as before.
