Because of the difficulty in developing humanoid robots, the market is also curious about the core technology mastered by Xiaomi.

According to a report in Kechuangban Daily on August 12, through the search of the Wisdom Bud global patent database, Xiaomi and its associated companies have laid out more than 740 patents in the core fields of intelligent robots, such as perceptual technology, machine learning and motion control technology. among them, invention patents account for 97%. The report also said that these patents are mainly concentrated in drones, self-driving, self-cleaning, natural language processing and other related fields.

In addition to robots, in the ongoing automotive field, smart bud data show that Xiaomi also has more than 120 patents, while more than 110 patents have been filed so far this year. Smart Bud data also show that Xiaomi and its affiliated companies have a total of more than 2600 patents in the field of self-driving.

Lei Jun also said in his annual speech that Xiaomi invested 3.3 billion yuan in the first phase of autopilot, with an exclusive team of more than 500 people, as well as collaborative teams such as artificial intelligence lab, Xiao Ai team and mobile phone cameras. The first phase of Xiaomi autopilot plans 140 test cars, which will be tested across the country one after another, with the goal of entering the first camp of the industry in 2024.

On July 1, Lei Jun also said that Xiaomi's R & D investment has grown at a compound annual rate of more than 40% over the past five years. In the next five years, R & D investment is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan, continue to explore new directions of technology.
