CTOnews.com, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) Microsoft has previously launched a Bug reward program that will pay for zero-day vulnerabilities and other security vulnerabilities found by global security researchers in Windows and Microsoft software. Microsoft recently released a new blog post that delves deeper into the plan, showing that Microsoft has rewarded a $13.7 million (92.338 million yuan) Bug reward over the past 12 months.

According to Microsoft, the $13.7 million prize was shared by more than 330security researchers in 46 countries. The biggest award related to Hyper-V is $200000 (about 1.348 million yuan). In addition, Microsoft says the average bonus for all Bug reward programs is about $12000 (about 80880 yuan). For reference, Microsoft paid a similar amount in 2020. But now there are two updated reward plans, more researchers and qualified reports between two years.

As an upgrade to the Bug reward program, Microsoft has introduced a new research challenge and high-impact attack scenario to reward research focused on the most critical areas of its products.
