The first phase plans 140 test cars, which will be tested across the country one after another, with the goal of entering the first camp of the industry in 2024. By the end of this year, the overall size of the team is expected to exceed 600.

Since the self-official announced the construction of the car, Xiaomi's self-driving team has attracted many top talents in many industries. at present, the 500-person team is composed of 50 top experts, accounting for more than 70%. It covers the talents needed for the whole stack of self-driving technology, such as sensors, chips, perceptual regulation and control algorithms, simulation technology, high-precision maps, high-precision positioning, tool chain, training ability and so on. The core backbone members also have the R & D background of the world's top artificial intelligence companies such as Microsoft and Google. Xiaomi also wholly-owned acquisition of self-driving start-up company Shen Shen Technology, focusing on enriching self-driving related technology and personnel.
