CTOnews.com, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) Samsung's own camera module has been using the "ISOCELL" brand since its debut in the Galaxy S5. In the following years, Samsung also launched the ISOCELL Plus and ISOCELL 2.0 brands. According to Samsung's latest trademark application, the next generation of Samsung module brand may be called "XISO-CELL".

Citing foreign science and technology media Galaxy Club, Samsung recently applied for the "XISO-CELL" trademark from South Korea's intellectual property Information Service (KIPRIS). The document only shows no information other than the brand and font. Therefore, it is not clear whether the 200-megapixel main photo taken by the Galaxy S23 will use the new trademark.

CTOnews.com learned that the "ISOCELL" trademark comes from "isolated cells", which is Samsung's way to reduce the interference and noise of two adjacent pixels in the camera. And we're not sure what adding an X to the current ISOCELL brand has to do with its performance or quality.
