CTOnews.com, Nov. 23, according to South Korean media The Elec, Samsung shows that it supplies more than 70% of the OLED panels of Apple's iPhone 14 series.

Samsung appears to have taken the lead after setbacks to competitors LG Display and BOE, the sources said. Apple is expected to use more than 120 million OLED panels for the iPhone 14 series.

Samsung shows that shipments are expected to reach about 80 million yuan, LG Display is expected to ship about 20 million yuan, and BOE is expected to ship 6 million yuan, the source added.

The Apple iPhone 14 series uses cryogenic polysilicon (LTPS) thin film transistor (TFT) OLED panels on two basic models and cryogenic polyoxide (LTPO) TFT OLED panels on two high-end models.

CTOnews.com learned that The Elec pointed out that Samsung showed that it offered OLED panels for four models; LG Display offered LTPS for the regular 6.1in model iPhone 14 and LTPO; for the 6.7inch iPhone 14 Pro Max model. BOE offered LTPS for the normal 6.1inch iPhone (iPhone 14).

Samsung said it expects shipments of the 6.1in iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7in iPhone 14 Pro Max models to exceed 60 million of its 80 million or so shipments, as sales of both models are better than expected.

In addition, LG Display also encountered production problems with its OLED panel for iPhone 14Pro Max, which led Samsung to show that it gained more market share at an early stage; BOE may expect shipments of iPhone 14 to increase, but sales of regular iPhone 14 are lower than expected.
