In June this year, CMA conducted a preliminary survey on the dominance of the two companies in the mobile browser market and sought advice from the outside world. The results of the consultation show that we need to conduct an in-depth investigation into the dominance of Apple and Google in the mobile browser market and Apple's restrictions on cloud games through its App Store app store, CMA said today.

"many British companies and Web developers have told us that they are hampered by various restrictive conditions of Apple and Google," Sarah Cardell, CMA interim CEO, said in a statement. "We will investigate this and assess whether their concerns are justified. If there is unfair competition between Apple and Google, we will take measures to improve the competitive and innovation environment."

In response, Apple said today that it will have a constructive dialogue with CMA to explain how it promotes competition and choice, while protecting the privacy and security of consumers. Google has yet to comment, but it said in June that it would continue to work with CMA.

In fact, as early as a year ago, CMA investigated Apple and Google's operating systems (iOS and Android), app stores (App Store and Play Store), and web browsers (Safari and Chrome), mainly concerned that these products exert too much control over users.

CMA said at the time: "Apple and Google have a firm grip on how we use our phones, which we fear will cause millions of people in the UK to lose their choice."
