CTOnews.com November 22, the LOGO and startup screen of Nintendo Switch prototype Nintendo NX have been exposed on the Internet. NX, the original code name for Nintendo Switch, was first publicly mentioned in a partnership with mobile game maker DeNA in March 2015.

Nintendo has been using the code name for the console for the next year and a half of development. It wasn't until October 20, 2016 that Nintendo officially announced its name as Switch.

Although the console has been called NX for 19 months, Nintendo has never shown NX's LOGO, which means it has never appeared on the outside until now.

Game collector and translator Paul Kelly (Paul Kelly) tweeted on Sunday that an early prototype of the "Mario go-kart 8 deluxe version" had been found on an EMMC ODIN chip prototype, an early version of the Switch circuit board. The prototype was built on October 18, 2016, two days before Switch officially announced its new name.

Kelly linked the prototype on archive.org, but it was later deleted. A few hours later, Kelly claimed to have found the early logo of NX and started the animation in the prototype.

CTOnews.com learned that Nintendo announced earlier this month that it had sold 114.3 million of its Switch hardware as of September. Earlier this year, the Switch was identified as the best-selling Nintendo home game console of all time, exceeding 101.63 million of the Wii. However, it still has a long way to go compared with Nintendo's 154.02 million DS sales and 118.69 million Game Boy (and Game Boy Color) sales.
