CTOnews.com, November 22 (Xinhua)-- Ehang Intelligence, an intelligent autopilot (AAV) company, announced yesterday that it will participate in the EU-funded SBAS (EGNOS) application project in multi-rotor vertical take-off and landing aircraft (referred to as the "SAMVA project").

Ehang said the project would deploy the European Geosynchronous Satellite Navigation Enhancement Service (EGNOS) for the operation of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL) in Europe, such as the autopilot vehicle EH216.

According to reports, under the initiative of the European Union Space Program Agency (EUSPA), the SAMVA project focuses on deploying EGNOS satellite applications on eVTOL to better integrate advanced air traffic services and U-Space airspace.

In addition, through the SAMVA project, the Catalan Airport Management Group and Ehang Intelligence plan to establish an autopilot operations center at Lerida-Alguaire Airport to conduct an EH216 flight demonstration to deploy the EGNOS system, and to demonstrate how the EGNOS system supports and enhances the unmanned aircraft system Traffic Management (UTM) and the operation of autopilot in the urban environment.

CTOnews.com learned that Ehang Intelligence pointed out that the SAMVA project will use the EGNOS system to provide navigation and guidance capabilities on Ehang's intelligent EH216 autopilot aircraft and support U-Space fusion airspace.
