According to the National Space Administration, China's remote sensing satellites have developed rapidly in recent years, and a stable high-score satellite remote sensing system has been built, achieving 100% information self-sufficiency in nearly 50 business areas. However, there are still some problems in the application of remote sensing satellite, such as low efficiency, difficult data sharing, scattered application services and so on.

Therefore, the National Space Administration, together with relevant departments, organized seven co-construction units, including the National Space Administration Earth observation and data Center, the China Resources Satellite Tencent App Center, and the National Satellite Meteorological Center, to jointly build the platform.

According to reports, as a national public welfare and basic public infrastructure for remote sensing information, the platform will open up information channels for the opening and sharing of remote sensing satellite data, build a basic framework for the interconnection and efficient utilization of resources, carry out comprehensive application of space resources and unified scheduling for emergency disaster reduction and disaster relief, and promote the high-quality development of cross-industry, cross-departmental and cross-regional remote sensing applications.
