CTOnews.com, Nov. 22, according to WCVB, Apple Derby Street on the outskirts of Boston in Xing'an, Massachusetts, was hit by a car on Monday morning. Many people were injured and emergency workers and ambulances arrived at the scene, the report said.

Witnesses said that at around 11:00 local time, a black SUV highway crashed into the glass exterior wall of the store and finally hit the back wall of the store. As of Monday afternoon, WCVB reported that one person had died and at least 19 people had been taken to regional hospitals by ambulance, with four of the victims in critical condition.

CTOnews.com learned that at a media conference on Monday afternoon, local police and fire department officials said the driver had been detained by the police and was under active criminal investigation, but they declined to provide further details.

Apple issued the following statement to WCVB on the incident:

We are shocked by the shocking incident on Apple Derby Street today and the tragic loss of a professional who was on site to support the recent construction of the store. We sympathize with the injured team members and customers and all those affected by this terrible event. At this very difficult time, we are making every effort to support our team members and customers.

Apple said the store on Derby Street had been closed until further notice.
