CTOnews.com, November 21 (Xinhua)-- Global shipments of folding screen smartphones climbed to double-digit levels in the third quarter of 2022 amid global geopolitical and economic turmoil, Strategy Analytics reported. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices were the main reason for the explosive growth in the third quarter of 2022.

Folding screen devices are still a niche area, but shipments are growing steadily. Samsung holds the absolute lead, followed by Huawei and Xiaomi. In the third quarter of 2022, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for more than 1/3 of smartphone shipments with folding screens.

CTOnews.com learned that according to CINNO Research, in terms of domestic market share, Huawei accounted for more than half of the market share in the third quarter of 2022, down 5.1% from the same period last year, but still leads the domestic folding mobile phone market. Samsung's market share is 20.5%, down 16.1% from the same period last year. Xiaomi jumped to third place with a 9.0% market share, up 5.8% from a year earlier, mainly due to the launch of its new generation of folding mobile phone product MIX Fold2; the market share of vivo, OPPO and Glory increased from nothing to 7.7%, 4.6% and 3.1%, respectively.
