Imagination and MulticoreWare demonstrated the performance of the accelerated stereo block matching algorithm on the Ziguang UNISOC-T710 development platform. CTOnews.com learned that MulticoreWare gives full play to its expertise in OpenCL to reimplement stereo block matching algorithm, which improves the utilization of computing resources and memory optimization, and achieves more than 50 times performance improvement on Imagination GPU.

The stereo block matching algorithm is optimized according to the intention of customers. After analyzing the performance of CPU, MulticoreWare determines the bottleneck, which is to achieve maximum GPU parallelism by efficiently using internal registers and configuring appropriate global workgroup sizes adapted to image resolution.

Imagination's GM9446 GPU memory layout is used to calculate the size of adaptive global workgroups. In addition to the optimization of calculation, the accuracy of the algorithm parameters is also improved after modification, and the performance implemented on GPU is very high compared with CPU on the same platform. In the same configuration, the time of CPU is 54.25ms, while the implementation time of MCW is 0.78ms, and the performance is improved by about 70 times.
