I. overall operation

The revenue of telecom business has increased steadily, and the total volume of telecom business has maintained double-digit growth. In October, telecom business revenue totaled 1.3215 trillion yuan, an increase of 8% over the same period last year, and the total telecom business volume, calculated at the same price last year, increased by 21.4% over the same period last year.

Revenue from fixed Internet broadband services grew steadily. In October, the revenue from Internet broadband services completed by the three basic telecom companies was 199.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.9% over the same period last year, accounting for 15.1% of the telecom business revenue, which was the same as that of the previous three quarters, driving the growth of telecom business revenue by 1.2%.

The revenue of mobile data traffic business is growing at a low speed. In October, the three basic telecom companies completed 538.3 billion yuan in mobile data traffic business revenue, an increase of 0.7% over the same period last year, accounting for 40.7% of telecom business revenue, driving an increase of 0.3% in telecom business revenue.

CTOnews.com has learned that revenue from emerging businesses continues to grow rapidly. The three basic telecommunications companies are actively developing emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data center, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of things. In October, Mel completed a total of 256.3 billion yuan in related business revenue, an increase of 33.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 19.4% of the telecommunications business revenue, driving the telecom business revenue to grow by 5.2%. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data grew by 127.8% and 59.3% respectively, the data center business revenue increased by 12.7%, and the Internet of things business revenue increased by 25.6%.

The decline in voice business revenue has narrowed. 1Mel in October, the three basic telecommunications companies completed fixed voice and mobile voice business revenue of 17.24 billion yuan and 95.89 billion yuan, down 9.1% and 1.4% respectively from the same period last year, and narrowed by 0.5% and 1.5% respectively compared with the previous three quarters. Together, the two businesses accounted for 8.6% of the telecom business revenue, down 1% from the same period last year.

II. The Development of Telecom users

The number of fixed broadband access users has increased steadily, and the number of gigabit users has continued to expand. By the end of October, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 583 million, a net increase of 47.45 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100Mbps and above access rates reached 547 million, accounting for 93.8 percent of the total users, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the end of last year; and the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 1000Mbps access rates reached 81.35 million, a net increase of 46.76 million over the end of last year, accounting for 13.9 percent of the total users, accounting for 0.8 percentage points higher than the previous three quarters.

The number of mobile phone users is steadily increasing, with 5G users accounting for more than 30%. By the end of October, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 1.682 billion, a net increase of 39.47 million over the end of last year. Of these, 5G mobile phone users reached 524 million, a net increase of 169 million over the end of last year, accounting for 31.1 percent of mobile phone users and an increase of 9.5 percentage points over the end of last year.

The pace of "thing Superman" continues to increase, and the number of IPTV users increases steadily. By the end of October, the three basic telecommunications enterprises had developed 1.777 billion cellular IoT end users, a net increase of 379 million over the end of last year, and had exceeded the number of mobile phone users by 94.82 million, accounting for 51.4% of the number of mobile network terminal connections (including mobile phone users and cellular IoT end users). The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 374 million, a net increase of 25.32 million over the end of last year.

III. Use of telecommunications services

Mobile Internet traffic is growing rapidly, and the DOU value reached a new high in that month. In October, cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 213.9 billion GB, an increase of 18.2% over the same period last year. By the end of October, the number of mobile Internet users had reached 1.462 billion, a net increase of 46.37 million over the end of last year. In October, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) per household reached 16.12GB / household month, an increase of 12.5% over the same period last year, which was higher than 1.4GB / household month at the end of last year.

The volume of mobile phone calls grew at a low speed, and the growth rate of mobile short message business picked up slightly. In October, mobile phone outbound calls completed 1.91 trillion minutes, up 1.3% from a year earlier, while fixed-line caller calls completed 69.6 billion minutes, down 10.2% from the same period last year. 1Mel in October, the national mobile short message business increased by 4.4% compared with the same period last year, and the mobile short message service revenue increased by 1.6% compared with the same period last year, up 0.9% and 0.3% respectively compared with the previous three quarters.

IV. Communication capability

The service capacity of gigabit network continues to improve. By the end of October, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide had reached 1.06 billion, a net increase of 41.93 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 1.013 billion, a net increase of 52.88 million over the end of last year, accounting for 95.6 percent of the Internet broadband access ports and 1.3 percentage points higher than at the end of last year. By the end of October, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capacity reached 13.27 million, a net increase of 5.408 million over the end of last year.

Steady progress has been made in the construction of 5G network. By the end of October, the total number of 5G base stations had reached 2.25 million, a net increase of 825000 over the end of last year, accounting for 20.9% of the total number of mobile base stations, accounting for 6.6% of the total number of mobile base stations at the end of last year.

V. Regional development

The penetration rate of access users with 100 megabytes and above in the central region is slightly ahead. By the end of October, the penetration rates of 100Mbps and above fixed broadband access users in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions were 93.7%, 94.6%, 93.2% and 93.6%, respectively. The number of broadband access users with 1000Mbps and above access rates reached 40.52 million, 18.24 million, 20.27 million and 2.31 million respectively, accounting for 16.3%, 12.5%, 13.1% and 6.7% of the total number of fixed broadband access users in the region, respectively.

The eastern region takes the lead in 5G construction and user penetration. By the end of October, the number of 5G base stations in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 1.081 million, 482000, 547000 and 140000 respectively, accounting for 23.1%, 20.4%, 18.1% and 19.7% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in the region, respectively. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 234 million, 122 million, 134 million and 34 million respectively, accounting for 32%, 31.4%, 30.1% and 28.5% of the total mobile phone users in the region, respectively.

The growth rate of mobile Internet access traffic in the central region takes the lead, and the DOU value of some western provinces exceeds 20GB / household month. In October, mobile Internet access traffic in eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 91.04 billion GB, 48.39 billion GB, 63.47 billion GB and 11.02 billion GB, respectively, up 17.8%, 20%, 18.6% and 11.7% over the same period last year. In October, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of Xizang, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Ningxia and Yunnan exceeded 20GB per household month, 2 more provinces than in September.
