CTOnews.com learned that JZ 31-1 gas field is located in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of about 30 meters. A new subsea production system has been built for this gas field, relying on JZ 25-1 South, the largest connected platform in Asia, for development and production. Two gas wells have been put into production, with a peak daily production of about 410,000 cubic meters of natural gas, and an annual output equivalent to the annual consumption of 400,000 households.

According to introduction, underwater production system consists of wellhead, Christmas tree and control system, which is the key equipment for oil and gas exploitation and is usually used in deepwater sea area. In 2021, CNOOC successfully conquered this equipment. In shallow water, the fixed jacket platform mode is basically adopted in global offshore oil and gas development, and the oil production equipment is built on the platform for convenient operation and adjustment. However, shipping and fishing in Bohai Sea area are developed. In order to reduce the occupation of sea area, CNOOC is the first in the world to use underwater production system for shallow sea development.

At present, JZ 31-1 gas field adopts unmanned development mode, which can realize precise control and intelligent monitoring of underwater exploitation and reduce engineering investment and production and operation cost. As a demonstration application of low cost subsea production system, it will lay a foundation for later establishment of standard technical system of subsea production system in Bohai area.
