According to CTOnews.com news on November 21, wafer foundry TSMC said today that the Kaohsiung plant has officially started construction after land preparation and will achieve mass production in 2024 as planned.

Wei Zhijia, president of TSMC, said at the law conference that the utilization rate of TSMC's 7nm production capacity was loose in the fourth quarter, resulting in a temporary delay in the construction of the 7nm plant in Kaohsiung, but there was no cancellation or change of planning. the 28nm plant is still on schedule.

According to reports, TSMC Kaohsiung Plant is located in Nanzi Industrial Park, the former site of CNPC Kaohsiung Refinery. The Kaohsiung municipal government looks forward to combining Qiaotou Science Park, Road Science Park, and Nanke to build a semiconductor industry settlement, which is expected to produce in 2024.

CTOnews.com learned that TSMC's cumulative revenue from January to October 2022 was about NT $1.85 trillion (about 421.8 billion yuan), an increase of 44.0 per cent over the same period last year.

In the third quarter of this year, TSMC had revenues of $20.23 billion (about 145.049 billion yuan), a gross profit margin of 60.4% and a net operating margin of 50.6%. During the reporting period, TSMC shipments of 5 nm accounted for 28% of total wafer revenue, 26% of total wafer revenue, and 26% of total wafer revenue, and more advanced processes accounted for 54% of total wafer revenue.
