By the end of October, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 1.682 billion, a net increase of 39.47 million over the end of last year. Of these, 5G mobile phone users reached 524 million, a net increase of 169 million over the end of last year, accounting for 31.1 percent of mobile phone users and an increase of 9.5 percentage points over the end of last year.

In terms of communication capacity, the service capacity of gigabit network has been continuously improved, and the construction of 5G network has made steady progress. By the end of October, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide had reached 1.06 billion, a net increase of 41.93 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 1.013 billion, a net increase of 52.88 million over the end of last year, accounting for 95.6 percent of the Internet broadband access ports and 1.3 percentage points higher than at the end of last year. The data also show that by the end of October, the total number of 5G base stations had reached 2.25 million, a net increase of 825000 over the end of last year, accounting for 20.9% of the total number of mobile base stations, accounting for 6.6% of the total number of mobile base stations at the end of last year.

Revenue from emerging businesses continues to grow rapidly. The three basic telecommunications enterprises actively developed emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data center, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of things. From January to October, the related business revenue totaled 256.3 billion yuan, an increase of 33.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 19.4% of the telecommunications business revenue, driving the telecom business revenue to grow by 5.2%. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data grew by 127.8% and 59.3% respectively, the data center business revenue increased by 12.7%, and the Internet of things business revenue increased by 25.6%.

The eastern region takes the lead in 5G construction and user penetration. By the end of October, the number of 5G base stations in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 1.081 million, 482000, 547000 and 140000 respectively, accounting for 23.1%, 20.4%, 18.1% and 19.7% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in the region, respectively. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 234 million, 122 million, 134 million and 34 million respectively, accounting for 32%, 31.4%, 30.1% and 28.5% of the total mobile phone users in the region, respectively.

The growth rate of mobile Internet access traffic in the central region takes the lead, and the DOU value of some western provinces exceeds 20GB / household month. From January to October, mobile Internet access traffic in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 91.04 billion GB, 48.39 billion GB, 63.47 billion GB and 11.02 billion GB respectively, an increase of 17.8%, 20%, 18.6% and 11.7% over the same period last year. In October, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of Xizang, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Ningxia and Yunnan exceeded 20GB per household month, 2 more provinces than in September.
