Last week, AMD finally opened up the RRA tool in the GitHub repository, which can be used by game developers to improve the performance of AMD graphics cards in ray-tracing scenes, which is another "battle for the future" technology.

AMD says the Radeon RayTracing Analyzer is a tool designed to help improve the raytracing performance of AMD GPU that supports RayTracing. So far, the tool has focused on accelerating the visualization of the structure, which consists of a hierarchy of boundary volumes. Game developers are responsible for creating acceleration structures, so they need a way to visualize these acceleration structures and how they affect performance.

RRA allows developers to visualize the bounding box hierarchy and related scene geometry through the standard rasterization renderer or using the traversal counter view, which quickly highlights areas of interest. Once determined, developers can re-examine their BVH generation strategies to reduce performance bottlenecks.

CTOnews.com learned that the Radeon raytrace analyzer has 69k lines of source code that can be downloaded through GitHub. The tool supports RX 6000 series and above graphics cards, and the system supports Windows 10 swap 11 and Ubuntu 20.04 Universe 22.04 LTS.
