CTOnews.com, Nov. 20 (Xinhua)-- with the last batch of drm-intel-next patches submitted by Linux on Friday, Linux 6.2 will also usher in official support for Intel Ruixuan.

Previously, Linux's support for Intel's dazzling DG2 / Alchemist GPU was "experimental", and users needed to manually use the i915.forceful probe= module option to enable the Intel i915 kernel driver to support Ruixuan.

In Linux 6.2, Intel's dazzling DG2 / Alchemist GPU will be upgraded to official support, which is enabled by default. The update patch says:

DG2 has been in use for some time now, and all the [user-space API] changes related to basic platform usage have been completed. The recent [continuous integration] results are also healthy, so we are going to abandon the force_probe requirement and enable the platform by default.

CTOnews.com has learned that the merger window for Linux 6.2 will be launched in December, while the official version of Linux 6.2 is expected to be released in February next year, and we can look forward to formal support for Intel Ruixuan in the major Linux distributions next spring.
