The EOS R5 is equipped with a CMOS image sensor of up to 45 million effective pixels and a DIGIC X processor. Canon said that the EOS R5 can meet the requirements of high-speed continuous shooting of up to about 20 photos per second at full pixels, as well as high-specification video shooting of 8K 30p or 4K 120p.

The dynamic range and noise reduction performance of CMOS image sensor are further improved compared with EOS R, and a satisfactory performance of high ISO sensitivity can be obtained.

When shooting still photos, the standard sensitivity range of EOS R5 is ISO 100-51200 and can be further extended to ISO 50 and ISO 102400. When shooting short video films, the standard sensitivity range is ISO 100-25600, and the extended sensitivity is ISO 51200.
