ASML has decided to build a maintenance and engineer training center in South Korea, and if it builds a production plant or R & D center, the two sides will be able to work together to cope with the restructuring of the global semiconductor supply chain. CTOnews.com has learned that ASML has allocated approximately US$180 million (approximately RMB1.282 billion) to build a maintenance and engineer training center in Hwaseong, South Korea. Hwaseong is Samsung Electronics 'semiconductor production base. When the ASML facility is completed, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will be able to reduce their dependence on imported parts from the Netherlands and have manpower to repair wafer production equipment locally.

ASML is the world's only manufacturer of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light equipment, and South Korea's Shuangxiong wants to strengthen cooperation with ASML to face fierce competition with TSMC.
