CTOnews.com, November 19, reports that the newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip uses the new 1 / 2 / 2 / 3 architecture, while some smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have appeared on Geekbench running sites, including Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 + and S23 Ultra, showing that the Prime CPU core frequency is 3.36GHz, the performance core frequency is 2.80GHz and the efficiency core frequency is 2.02GHz.

In addition to the Samsung S23 series, the vivo X90 Pro and iQOO 11 also carry the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but these phones have a Prime core frequency of 3.19GHz. This is also the official figure announced by Qualcomm, or 3.1872GHz to be exact.

Recently, digital blogger @ Ice Universe said that the European version of Samsung S23 series will use the "exclusive high-frequency version" of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, the running test we have seen so far is from the US version, so this may involve S23 devices around the world.

Now more details have been revealed that Samsung's S23 series Prime CPU core frequency will indeed reach 3.36GHz, not 3.2GHz. But GPU also runs at a higher frequency of 719MHz, higher than the standard 680MHz announced by Qualcomm.

Qualcomm occasionally releases a "AC" version that runs at a rate higher than the basic clock rate of the chip. For example, the model SM8150,SM8150-AC of Snapdragon 855 is Snapdragon 855, which promotes the Prime core from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model announced this week is SM8550-AB, so the subsequent overclocking version is SM8550-AC.

It is not clear whether the chip used in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 + or otherwise. But it seems that Qualcomm and TSMC have achieved decent overclocking in terms of technology.

CTOnews.com learned that according to Qualcomm's official data, the CPU of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is 35% faster than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Given the overclocking of both, the new version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be faster.
