CTOnews.com understands that on November 17, Blizzard Entertainment issued a statement saying that most Blizzard game services in the mainland of China will be suspended due to the expiration of the existing license agreement with Netease on January 23,2023. These Blizzard games include World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch, StarCraft, Warcraft III: Remake, Diablo III, and Heroes of the Storm. In addition, the co-development and distribution of Diablo: Immortal involves separate agreements between the two companies.

Blizzard Entertainment stated in a statement that the parties have not reached a renewal agreement that is consistent with Blizzard's operating principles and commitments to players and employees.

Netease said that after lengthy negotiations, it was still unable to agree on some key terms of cooperation with Activision Blizzard.

Analysts point out that there are currently a number of game companies as potential parties to negotiations with Blizzard, including Tencent, ByteDance, Perfect World, Station B, etc.
