On November 19th, Elon Musk, Twitter's new boss, issued an ultimatum that led to the departure of hundreds of employees, but he didn't seem worried. "the best people will stay," Musk tweeted on Friday.

On Wednesday, local time, Musk issued an ultimatum to Twitter employees, asking them to make a decision by 5pm on Thursday, either to sign a guarantee to help him create "Twitter 2.0" or to resign with a three-month salary.

Some internal estimates suggest that at least 1200 full-time employees resigned on Thursday, according to three people familiar with the matter. As of the end of October, Twitter had 7500 full-time employees, down to about 3700 after massive layoffs this month.

Perhaps the most critical question now is how Twitter can stay in business after massive layoffs in such a short period of time. On Thursday night, a senior Twitter software engineer who resigned posted that the company shared a message with employees that the leadership had no vision and that they were expected to maintain "blind loyalty" to Musk.

Musk then posted a series of memes on Twitter, joking that Twitter employees left the company on Thursday night. One of the tweets included a picture of Twitter logo printed on the grave. Another post was a picture that read, "help us, Ligma and Johnson, you are our only hope."

The second post refers to pranksters named Rahul Ligma (Rahul Ligma) and Daniel Johnson (Daniel Johnson). When Musk took over Twitter, they pretended to be fired by Twitter. Musk later took a group photo with the two men and jokingly welcomed them back to the company.
