November 18, according to foreign media reports, on Thursday, local time, General Motors said it expected to make a steady profit on its electric vehicles sold in North America by 2025, thanks to the recent federal subsidy policy.

Paul Jacobson, GM's chief financial officer, said electric vehicles would have higher profit margins once the inflation reduction Act's clean energy tax credit takes effect.

This year, GM's electric car sales in the United States have lagged behind Tesla, Ford and Hyundai. The company plans to accelerate production of electric vehicles in North America and China from 2023 to 2025. The company said it would produce 400000 electric vehicles for the North American market from 2022 to the first half of 2024, a slower schedule than previously predicted.

In October, GM reported that it sold 15200 electric vehicles in the third quarter of 2022, of which 14700 were sold by the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. The company said it had the best sales of electric cars in its history.

The company also reported that it had an 8 per cent share of the us electric car market in the third quarter, thanks to record sales of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. (little fox)
