CTOnews.com, Nov. 18, according to the latest report released by cybercrime intelligence company Intel 471, 455 cyber attacks involving 27 racketeering software were recorded between July and September 2022.

CTOnews.com learned that this was a significant decrease from 38 in the second quarter of 2022 and 134 in the first quarter of 2022. The most rampant malicious extortion software in the third quarter of 2022 was LockBit 3.0, accounting for 42 per cent of all reported incidents. The second is Black Basta, accounting for 11%, 9%, 9% and nearly 7%.

Other ransomware variants observed this quarter for multiple ransomware attacks were AvosLocker, Vice Society, STORMOUS RANSOMWARE, RansomHouse, Quantum and LV, with more than 32 attacks each.

The study found that attacks on consumer and industrial products decreased by 14% in the third quarter of 2022 compared with the second quarter of 2022. However, this field is still the key target of blackmail software.
