Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
As the weather turns cooler, many birds begin to fly from the cold north to the relatively warm south, and the large-scale migration looks spectacular.
Some of them will fly from the north of our country to Nanyang and farther to Australia, and when they are hungry, they will stop to eat and resupply from time to time.
And an amazing thing happened to a bird recently tracked by scientists, called the ch é ng snipe.
One of the birds, only a few months old, flew non-stop from Alaska to the Australian island of Tasmania, from the northernmost to the southernmost part of the earth.
The 13560-kilometer flight took only 11 days from October 13 to 24. What's more, the spotted-tailed snipe neither stopped for a sip of water nor ate a shell crab.
This distance is equivalent to about six round trips from Beijing to Shanghai, and even people who take the high-speed train can't help but order a box lunch or takeout.
I have to say, what kind of steel is this bird?
According to observation and tracking data from a German institute of ornithology, the bird set out on the 19th and flew south from Alaska to the western island of Hawaii before flying over the Pacific island nation of Kiribati.
Two days later, Kiribati flew to Vanuatu, followed by a route 620 km east of Sydney between Australia and New Zealand.
Eventually, the bird and the rest of the flock swerved westward to reach the island of Tasmania in southern Australia, completing an epic migration.
In 11 days, more than 10,000 kilometers can be plunged westward from Beijing into the Atlantic Ocean, which is equivalent to three to 1/4 equators (about 40000 kilometers long). If you replace it with a car, it's time for maintenance.
And generally speaking, there are always some small islands on the road that can be used to take a short rest and replenish energy. But no matter what happened to other birds, the spotted snipe did not stop to resupply in the service area for a moment, relying only on the food it had eaten before takeoff to make it to the other side of the world.
In the meantime, they also run the risk of losing their strength and being drowned by the waves. It can be said that their only choice is to do their best.
This habit makes them one of the farthest direct migratory birds in the world, and every year they start from the Arctic Circle to spend the winter in Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and other places.
But in order to prepare for this dangerous migration, the spotted-tailed snipe needs to replenish itself with a lot of energy sources before takeoff, frantically preying on crustaceans, molluscs and other small things on the beach.
The birds that eat the remaining shadow snipe and clam compete for the benefit of the fisherman, including the spotted-tailed snipe.
Eating into a fat person in one bite is what they want to achieve the most.
But at the same time, if the weight is too heavy, there is a risk that it will not be able to fly. In order to balance the need for energy storage and flight, the spotted-tailed snipe will brutally "digest" and absorb 1/4 of its internal organs, shrinking its liver, kidneys and stomach.
The goal is to make more room for fat, which accounts for half of the body weight of spotted-tailed snipes during migration.
After arriving at the destination, all the spotted-tailed snipes seem to have shrunk by one size, and through frenzied eating and recovery, the organs will eventually grow back into full shape again, and such balloon inflatable body changes all take place within a month.
Overeating + exercise = no change in weight, got it, get rid of exercise.
After arriving at the destination, the matter is far from over. In about half a year, as the seasons change, the spotted-tailed snipe will once again embark on the flight journey and return to Alaska to complete the cycle of life.
Such a small animal, its feat can not help but the majority of netizens admire:
Others imagine what the world would be like if human beings could use organs in the same way.
Anyway, the most amazing thing is nature forever.
