CTOnews.com, Nov. 18 (Xinhua)-- Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automaker, has announced that it will acquire artificial intelligence and self-driving software developer aiMotive, and the two sides have reached an agreement on the acquisition.

Yves Bonnefont, chief software officer of Stellantis, said, "the acquisition of aiMotive's artificial intelligence and self-driving technology has made an important contribution to Stellantis as a sustainable mobile travel technology company. AiMotive's leading expertise and entrepreneurial spirit will accelerate our pace of achieving our Dare Forward 2030 goals."

CTOnews.com learned that aiMotive, headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, currently has offices in Germany, the United States and Japan and has more than 200 talented employees worldwide, involving artificial intelligence and autopilot.

AiMotive's technology portfolio focuses on four key areas of artificial intelligence and autopilot:

AiDrive: autopilot embedded software stack

AiData: artificial intelligence operation and data tool

AiWare: expertise and intellectual property of Silicon chips

AiSim: developing simulation software for autopilot

According to reports, the Stellantis software team has begun to develop three new technology platforms-- STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive-- which will be deployed on four new STLA vehicle platforms (STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large and STLA Frame) on a large scale from 2024.

Supported by Stellantis's electrification and software investment of more than 30 billion euros, the Stellantis software strategy is expected to generate annual revenue of about 20 billion euros by 2030, which is also part of the "Dare Forward 2030" strategic plan.

AiMotive will operate as a subsidiary of Stellantis to maintain its operational independence and entrepreneurial culture. L á szl ó Kishonti, founder of aiMotive, will continue to serve as CEO. The company will continue to sell its existing technology portfolio, including aiData, aiSim and aiWare, to other partners.

Stellantis will set up a board to oversee aiMotive while maintaining its rapidly innovative entrepreneurial model. The aiMotive team will be fully part of the Stellantis autopilot and artificial intelligence team. The completion of the acquisition needs to meet the usual closing conditions, including antitrust requirements.
