CTOnews.com, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) according to the Wall Street Journal, Volkswagen's new CEO, Oliver Blume, has reviewed its plans for self-driving cars, and the former CEO's planned Trinity model and the new plant may face delays or cancellations. Foreign media believe that this is the first sign that he will give up some technical projects in Disi.

Obermu may postpone the autopilot project and may cancel plans to build a new factory for the car near the company's headquarters, sources said.

In a piece of news seen by the Wall Street Journal, Obermu and Volkswagen brand CEO Thomas Schafer told employees: "We are using this opportunity to review all projects and investments and determine if they are feasible."

CTOnews.com learned that Volkswagen said in March that it would invest 2 billion euros to produce advanced self-driving electric vehicles at a new plant near its Wolfsburg headquarters, and construction work will begin in the spring of 2023.

The Trinity EV will be based on Volkswagen's latest SSP software-led platform, which Volkswagen says will provide L4 assisted driving, which means cars will be able to drive with limited self-driving in some scenarios.

Manager Magazine reported a while ago that Volkswagen had planned to start production of the Trinity EV at its new plant in 2026, but Blume hopes to postpone it until 2030.

Sources said Blume had to cancel some of its goals because Deiss's previous strategies for electric cars, software and new mobile products were too aggressive and many projects were "impractical", while details of the changes were still being worked out.

Reuters also said Volkswagen management still plans to bring self-driving and long-range electric vehicles to market, adding that the question now is whether Wolfsburg needs a new factory or whether the assembly line at Wolfsburg's main plant can produce them.

In addition, Volkswagen plans to build a new plant at the new European plant near Berlin by using large die-casting machines and reducing the number of auto parts, in order to shorten production time, which is designed to rival that of Tesla.

Tesla said his plant in Glenhead, near Berlin, was already able to produce Model Y within 10 hours, while Volkswagen ID.3 could take three times as long.
