CTOnews.com, November 18 (Xinhua)-- password management software 1Password announced today that Passkeys will be supported in early 2023. This means that when users visit supported websites or applications, they no longer need to enter regular passwords, but rely on biometric identification and other methods to authenticate users.

Apple has introduced support for Passkeys in iOS16, iPadOS16, tvOS16 and macOS Ventura, which allows users to use iCloud Keychain to synchronize passwords on different devices.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple, Google and Microsoft are currently members of the FIDO Alliance, and Apple works with other alliance members to ensure Passkeys interoperability, which can be achieved by scanning QR QR codes on non-Apple devices.

1Password said the software has a wider range of Passkey implementation than Apple's single ecosystem and can run on all platforms currently supported by the software without the need for workarounds such as scanning QR QR codes.

1Password also sets up a demo page, but requires a 1Password account and installs the 1Password extension on the latest version of Google Chrome browser or Edge browser.

1Password also maintains a website and application directory that has begun to support passwords, including Google, Microsoft, Twitter, eBay, Best Buy, GitHub, etc.
