CTOnews.com, Nov. 18-Google is planning to introduce an augmented reality (AR) mapping feature called Live View for Google Maps to make it more intuitive for smartphone users to search nearby restaurants, coffee shops and other venues.

Users can click the camera icon in the Google Maps search bar to enable the feature, and after enabling, users can see a lot of surrounding information, including stores, banks, ATM ATMs, bars and so on.

CTOnews.com learned that this feature of Google Maps also provides AR-based path navigation with clearer arrows to guide users to the nearest destination. Some key information about these places will also be displayed on the screen, such as whether bars are currently open, what is the per capita consumption of restaurants, and netizens' comments on these places, and so on.

Google said users can click on the location category to see which restaurants, bars, dessert shops, parks and transportation stations are within walking distance. CTOnews.com learned that this feature of Google Maps entered the preview phase in September this year, and Google is now ready to launch it to the public. Google will launch the feature in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Tokyo next week.
