CTOnews.com, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) Microsoft is reducing the price of its Xbox Series S game console to $249.99 for the holiday. The new "Black Friday" promotion starts today, including special holiday theme packaging. Other offers include a maximum discount of $300 for the new Surface Laptop 5, up to $200 for specific Surface Pro 9 models, and up to 67% for Xbox digital games.

Microsoft game CEO Phil Spencer recently revealed, "you may see some price promotions during the holidays." However, it is unclear how long Xbox Series S's $249.99 (1770 yuan) promotion price will last.

Although Xbox Series S has temporarily cut prices, the more powerful Xbox Series X will maintain its normal retail price of $499 (about 3533 yuan). Microsoft cut prices on the Xbox Series S during the holidays, contrary to what its arch-rival Sony did. Just a few months ago, Sony raised the price of the PS5 in Europe, Japan and other markets.

Sony PS5 prices jumped 10% in Europe, 12.5% in Japan and about 6% in the UK, which Sony blamed on high inflation and adverse currency trends. However, the price of PS5 in the United States has not changed.
