Games, video, online shopping, takeout, express delivery and other life, consumer needs are inseparable from mobile phones. Sometimes the mobile phone Internet signal is good and bad, the web page information can not be brushed out, watching videos, playing games stutter. So what on earth causes the cell phone signal to be so weak? What does the strength of the cell phone signal depend on?

In fact, the number of signal frames displayed on our mobile phones is not calculated according to a unified standard, and the signal display frames of different brands and even different models of mobile phones of the same brand are not the same.

In the process of receiving and transmitting signals, mobile phones need to use special baseband chips to encode and decode the signals. Generally speaking, the baseband chip is a "translation". If this "translation" is not efficient, it will result in a weak mobile phone signal.

When we are farther away from the base station, the receiving distance of the signal increases, the signal of the mobile phone becomes weaker, and the high-quality signal that the mobile phone wants to receive must be increased. By the same token, if you want the base station to "receive the signal", you need to increase the power of the signal, which will also cause the phone to stutter and affect the use effect.

The electromagnetic wave propagates along the direction controlled by the antenna, and the mobile phone signal will attenuate when it encounters obstacles that hinder the propagation of the electromagnetic wave, such as the metal shell of the car, the train, the glass of the building and so on. If it is in the basement or elevator, the area is small or at the edge of the obstacle, the electromagnetic wave of the obstacle is difficult to penetrate or diffracted, the phone may have no signal at all.

The network we use every day is called Cellular Mobile Communication Network (Cellular Mobile Communication), which divides a large area into many small areas and sets up a base station in each small area. Each base station is responsible for the contact and control of the user terminals in the area, realizing that users can communicate with each other in activities, and has the functions of handover and automatic roaming across the local network. The coverage of each area is mainly determined by the azimuth and dip angle of the antenna.

Antenna azimuth:

The azimuth is the angle formed by taking the north point as the starting point and rotating horizontally clockwise to the plane of the antenna. The azimuth ranges from 0 °to 360 °, the north point is 0 °, the east point is 90 °, the south point is 180 °and the west point is 270 °. Antennas are divided into omni-directional antennas and directional antennas according to directionality. At present, most base stations use directional antennas. Base stations need to be equipped with three antennas, each of which covers a range of 120 °and completes 360 °coverage. When the azimuth of the antenna is 60 °, then the coverage range of the antenna is 0 °to 120 °, in which 30 °to 90 °is the main lobe direction, and the rest is the sidelobe direction. If your position is in the direction of the main lobe, then the cell phone signal will be better, if it is located in the sidelobe direction, then the signal is relatively weak.

Antenna dip angle:

The dip angle is also called pitch angle, which mainly indicates the horizontal angle of the antenna. the larger the dip angle is, the closer the coverage of the base station is, and the smaller the dip angle is, the farther the coverage of the base station is. At the same time, there are some differences in the specific downward angle because of the different needs of the installation environment and the users. If the downward inclination of the antenna is relatively small, and the antenna basically transmits the signal in the horizontal direction, then where you are relatively close to the base station, the signal will also be very poor, which is commonly known as "black under the tower".

Thus it can be seen that the strength of mobile phone signal is closely related to the actual situation, such as terrain environment, network coverage requirements, baseband chip, base station transmission power, transmission obstacles, antenna installation and so on. The wireless frequencies of base stations in different networks and different cells are different, and their wireless transmission characteristics are also different. In life, when we encounter the situation that the mobile phone has no signal, it may be that the service range of the base station is limited, and the signal will gradually weaken with the increase of the distance. If you happen to be in the blind area of the base station service, the signal will be relatively weak.

How can we know whether the cell phone signal is strong or weak, and where to inquire?

The standard to measure the signal strength of a mobile phone is called RSRP (Reference Signal Receiving Power, reference signal receiving power). The unit of the signal is dBm, which ranges from-50dBm to-130dBm. The smaller the absolute value, the stronger the signal.

Check the cell phone signal strength iOS system Mobile phone: open the phone dial pad-enter * 3001 "12345" *-click the [call] button-click [serving CELL info]-find [RSRP], and check the exact value of the phone's signal strength.

Android mobile phone: open the phone [Settings]-click "about Mobile phone"-Click "status message"-then click "Network"-find "signal strength" to view the exact value of the current signal strength of the phone.

Depending on the phone model and operator, the location may vary.
