CTOnews.com, Nov. 16 (Xinhua)-- Boston Dynamics has sued its rival Ghost Robotics for allegedly infringing seven patents related to its Spot quadruped robot, The Robot Report reported.

Ghost Robotics's Spirit 40 and Vision 60 robotic dogs draw on key technologies from Spot, including automatic centralization and stair climbing systems, Boston Dynamics said.

▲ Ghost Robotics Vision 60 Boston Dynamics said it required Ghost Robotics to review Spot-related patents in July 2020, five months after the launch of the Spirit 40. Since then, Boston Dynamics said it had sent two stop letters asking Ghost to stop selling its robotic dogs.

CTOnews.com learned that in a statement, Boston Dynamics said it "welcomes competition" but will crack down on companies that infringe its intellectual property rights. As part of the lawsuit, Boston Dynamics is seeking unspecified compensation.

Ghost Robotics was founded in 2015 by Avik De and Gavin Kenneally, both PhDs from the University of Pennsylvania. Ghost Robotics's customers include the United States and related military, homeland, intelligence and public safety agencies, defense and industrial enterprises, universities and research organizations.
