▲ Hubei Wufeng Taiping pumped Storage Power Station is located in Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City, Hubei Province. It is not only a key implementation project of the National medium-and long-term pumped Storage Development Plan (2021-2035), but also a key construction project of the 14th five-year Plan of Hubei Energy Development.

CTOnews.com learned that pumped storage power stations can make use of the natural drop between upper and lower reservoirs according to the law of peak and valley of power use. when the power load is low, they can use electricity to pump water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir, which can be effectively stored, and the stored potential energy can be converted into electricity needed by users at the peak of electricity consumption.

According to reports, the power station plans to install six units with a single unit capacity of 400000 kilowatts, with a total installed scale of 2.4 million kilowatts. The rated head of the power station is 696 meters and the maximum lift is 747 meters. It is another 700-meter pumped storage power station after Changlongshan, Tiantai and other pumped storage power stations in China. After the completion of the power station, it will play an important role in meeting the power growth demand of Hubei Province, improving power quality and maintaining the stable operation of the power grid.
