Beijing, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) "Elon" is no longer a popular name choice for newborns in the United States, according to the "trend of the hottest baby names in 2022" released by the US digital parenting website BabyCenter on Tuesday.

One of the major features of the BabyCenter website is the "baby naming device", which also regularly publishes posts that highlight the creativity of baby names. For nearly 20 years, BabyCenter has been publishing a list of the most popular baby names based on parents' choices on its website.

The most popular names for girls and boys have barely changed over the years: the most popular name for girls is "Olivia" and the most popular name for boys is "Liam". But what's really interesting about this list is to delve into which names have the fastest rise in popularity and which have fallen the most.

BabyCenter pointed out that Elon, which has the same name as Elon Musk, Twitter's new boss, is one of the fastest declining names this year and is now ranked only 1283, down more than 450th from last year. Because of Mr Musk's "big shift in attitude towards buying Twitter for $44 billion, as well as the company's recent turmoil, including sudden mass layoffs (as well as immediate re-hiring) and a wave of resignations", his name will further decline in popularity next year, the report said.

But Kanye, which has the same name as Kanye and American singer Kanye West, ranks even worse. Since last year, the name of "Kanye" has dropped 3410 places. Partners such as Adidas and Balenciaga severed ties with West because of his anti-Semitic comments on social media.
