Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com November 16, Apple released a new 24-inch iMac with M1 chip in April 2021, and more users and media began to pay attention to the arrival of the new iMac a year and a half later. With regard to the design and performance of the next-generation iMac, CTOnews.com summarizes the following according to foreign science and technology media MacRumors reports
Can it be called Pro?
Apple's most recent iMac Pro was released in 2017, hoping to meet professional users who have stringent requirements for all-in-one computers. But Apple discontinued production of the base 27-inch iMac in March 2022 after introducing the Mac Studio and the 27-inch Studio Display.
Since then, the news about Apple's next 27-inch iMac has been a bit confusing, with some sources saying Apple will cut the line of business, while others say it will be launched directly under the "Pro" brand.
Apple analyst Guo Mingyi believes that "iMac Pro" will be launched next year, while other reports say Apple has no plans to release a larger screen iMac in the near future. Apple's plans change frequently, so it's not clear what Apple's current plans are.
Apple is developing at least two iMac
Apple is developing two new iMac models: a large-screen model with a 27-inch display and an update to the current 24-inch model. It is reported that for the current 24-inch model, Apple plans to keep the M1 model until later in 2023, and then a new version with the M3 chip may be introduced.
The updated 24-inch iMac may have the same design and size, but the M3 chip will bring a more surging performance experience. Apple recently launched the M2 chip in June this year, so the M3 is still unknown.
Design and performance of iMac Pro
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the new members of the iMac family, whether or not they are called "iMac Pro", will use M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. These chips will be Apple's third-generation chips and build on the performance of the upcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which are also expected to be equipped with newer 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
As for the display and design, the larger iMac is likely to use the same display technology as Apple's most high-end MacBook Pros models, including the mini LED and ProMotion. Apple has also tested the Face ID for the Mac, but it is unlikely to be equipped in the near future.
