According to CTOnews.com news on November 15, the National Bureau of Statistics released the latest statistics today: from January to October, the country's online retail sales totaled 10.9542 trillion yuan, up 4.9 percent from the same period last year.

Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods totaled 9.4506 trillion yuan, up 7.2 percent, accounting for 26.2 percent of the total retail sales of consumer goods. Among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and household goods increased by 16.7 percent, 5.3 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.

Overall, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 4.0271 trillion yuan in October, down 0.5 percent from a year earlier. Of this total, retail sales of consumer goods other than cars totaled 3.6575 trillion yuan, down 0.9 percent. From January to October, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 36.0575 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.6 percent over the same period last year. Of this total, retail sales of consumer goods other than cars totaled 32.3702 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.5 percent.

CTOnews.com learned that total retail sales of consumer goods include online retail sales of physical goods, but do not include online retail sales of non-physical goods. Among them, the total amount of retail sales of consumer goods refers to the amount of physical goods sold by enterprises (units and self-employed) to individuals and social groups through transactions, as well as the amount of income obtained by providing catering services.
